NON-OBJECTIVE

While I love to paint what I see and experience around me, I also love to work intuitively without the constraints of subject matter. In these paintings the subject becomes the ‘elements of art’ – line, shape, colour, value, texture, pattern, and space. It is a challenging way to work - adding, obliterating, and layering media - to create an image and composition that functions. It's like listening to instrumental music by Miles Davis, Jesse Cook or Mozart, the viewer does not have to understand or work at any possible meaning, but just enjoy the sensory, visual experience for what it is.
